Forerunner of the «Art Nouveau» Eugene Grasset’s artistic language is one of the curved line, smooth and calculated, relating to nature and feminine elegant shapes. His references and patterns are  medieval, in the subjects as well as in the drawing of his posters.

He was a reader and admirer of Violet le Duc who in the 19th century re-discovered the Gothic Art.
